Things I’m Going a Week Without

Because I’m bad at rationing my favorite foods but I promised myself I wasn’t going shopping again.

Any fresh fruit besides oranges, apples and bananas ( I can get those at school)

Spinach/ lettuce

baby carrots

and worst of all…

Why oh why must I eat you so quickly??

I have some frozen food still so I’ll use that for veggie supply and of course I can always get food from school (especially hummus, thank goodness). At least I have some sweet potatoes left!

Also I’m so sorry I haven’t been updating frequently! I’ve been super busy trying to get all of my papers done but I’ll be home next week so we’ll chat more frequently then, promise!

So let’s just go for a quick update

Saturday- 45 min Yoga, 30 min power walk, 30 min bike

Sunday- 5 miles tempo run

Monday-2 mile run, 25 min bike, 45 min lift

Tuesday- 65 min bike intervals

Wednesday- .50 run (I’ll explain) 30 min. bike, 45 min lift

Thursday- 65 min bike intervals, 10 min ET

Alright Caitlin, so what’s with the weirdly short runs?

Well my dears I’ve come down with a touch of plantar faciitis =(. Basically fascia is what holds you muscles together and if something is causing it to pull it hurts, a lot. My calves are ridiculously tight so it pulls the fascia in the heel and arch of my feet. The remedy is a bunch of stretching and ice, pretty simple so hopefully I’ll be running again next week!

Some Eats

I need to use pumpkin and yogurt hence, a great amount of pumpkin yogurt

With the rest of PB2, oats and craisins

With Ambrosial Museli

And more random meals

Four egg whites scrambled with salsa, hummus mixed with dijon, baby carrots, pretzels, apple. Can you tell I was rushing?

I also finished the pretzel bag because I need some kind of intervention. I’ve eaten 10 bags in 6 weeks, please don’t judge me.

Must study for bio! I have a date tonight =).

What foods do you struggle without? All of the above, it’s a hard knock life

I’m debating nail color, ideas?

Who wants to take my bio final for me?

And not in to cool brick house kind of way. I’m sorry to start this post in a really whiny way but I have been in a serious funk the past few days. 201104291840.jpg

I think maybe I’m just way burnt out, it’s been a crazy year and maybe knowing that it’s almost over has got me calling it quits a little too early!

The only three things I’ve wanted to do are workout, eat and lie in bed. Which is virtually what had been happening (don’t worry, I’ve still been going to class!) But more homework needs to get done than has been for sure!

I’m giving myself a break now because it’s Friday but seriously, tomorrow I am making a to-do list a plow through it pre-funk Caitlin style… I can get things done son.

To cheer myself up I’ve been

1) Working out (duh)

2) Trying to be with people

3) Taking walks as weather permits

4) Dressing pretty (this legit makes me feel better)

5) Blasting this playlist

Some cheerin’ up eats

Overnight oats

I finished this in exactly one week, delicious though not recommended, I had a stomach ache for a few days!

And I re-found the my macadamia nut butter in the back of my fridge, huzzah! On whole grain waffles with honey and pumpkin cottage cheese

And honestly most of my lunches and dinners have looked like this, boring but the lack of motivation goes everywhere in my life… =(.

It is BEAUTIFUL out today so I took a good walk downtown this afternoon and am seeing a play on campus tonight! The wind is supposed to be brutal in the morning so looks like I’ll be in the gym, let’s see how I do on the treadmill! If I was outside I would go for maybe 9-11 miles but I’d be happy with 6-7 in the gym with some cross training time.

My half is two weeks from Sunday!!!

How do you de-funk yourself?

What’s your favorite song right now?

Any races coming up?

I’m Home!! Not that great of a surprise but fun for me! I got in yesterday to get some family time for Easter! I don’t actually have time off school so it’s a whirlwind trip but still so nice!

For the past few days I’ve been rockin’ some new clothes

Forever 21 floral strapless dress

And some not so new food

Airport find, not bad at all!

This is why I have the greatest Mom in the world, I found these in my room

Yesterday, because I got back kind of late for a belated birthday celebration we went out to one of our favorite places, Tommy’s!

This place is amazing, they are a combo of some of the best vegan/vegetarian food around but if you want you can also get a cheeseburger and they are known for having the best milkshakes in Cleveland (which you can also get vegan!)

Plus they have an amazingly, extensive list of salads!

PerMa and I split the Marina salad (spinach, celery, carrots, cheese, hummus and baba)

I also got an unpictured tempeh salad sandwich (tempeh, vegan mayo, pickles and celery) on a wheat pita with tomatoes.

And for the way better surprise

I ran a race this morning!! Recap later today!

Are you visiting family for Easter or Passover?

Do you post operation beautiful notes?

Off Week

I feel like I have had such on off week of food. Actually it’s been just kind of an off week for me in general but it has included my eats.

To me, a healthy diet includes nutritious food, a good balance and variety. I have been severely lacking in variety this week. I feel like I have been living off of hummus, nut butter, cereal, oatmeal and pretzels. Mainly because I have. I have also been indulging quite a but in my enjoy life snicker-doodles and dark chocolate.

Again, most of these foods are not unhealthy so I’m not too worried but I’ve also been very sleepy and not had a lot of motivation for school work. I am going to make it a point this week to pack my meals with veggies and try for much more fresh fruit… and I could probably be cool with ONE dessert.

Right after breakfast I went to the store just for veggies, and actually got just veggies! Win for Caitlin! Ok, I got a mango and grapes too… and some gum but I’m not counting those =)

For “lunch” (it was small) I threw together two corn tortillas with laughing cow and leftover baked beans with a bowl of some veg and superfruit vinaigrette.

I worked on a paper and then took a nap.

And woke up super hungry so had a mini breakfast cookie dough bowl (told you)

It held me for all of an hour before I was starving again. It was a little after 5 so I thought I would try to push dinner back a little. I had an apple and the last of my pineapple and felt like I had eaten nothing.

Clearly cooking something was not going to work so I had a pumpkin yogurt bowl

One box of cereal gone!

and a pita with PB

and four snicker-doodles

and a little bowl of cheerios

and a hummus wrap

and a handful of almonds

And I’m hungry… and I have issues

How do you get “back on track”

Would you like some of my appetite? There is plenty to go around!

Reach out

Well, it turns out that weight, body composition and health IS much more than just a number. DSCI0100.JPG

I truly cannot emphasize this enough. First, I will say, if you must be weighed by your doctor as part of recovery that is fine however in this case, NEVER make it a point to find out your weight.

To your ED, the scale measures self worth. It measures whether you will have a good day or bad day, how much better you are than everyone else, how much you are allowed to eat that day and how much you have to work out.

What the scale really measures? Arguably your weight, arguably not a whole hell of a lot. The scale gives you a number THAT’S IT. That is not a measure of health and in reality it may give you a number 5 pounds different the next day.

Most scales do not measure body fat to muscle mass, take bloating or water weight into account and many may not be calibrated correctly. Other things scales don’t do?

Congratulate you on your amazing run

Tell you that even if you don’t like the number you still look beautiful (which you do, all of you, all of the time)

Hug you or apologize after it ruined your day

And besides, I’m pretty sure that if I dropped a scale it would break in half. Something THAT weak is going to bring down people who are THIS strong? I think not my friends, not at all. 201104082007.jpg

For lunch I cleverly packed a pumpkin yogurt bowl! (tupperware?)

Greek yogurt and pumpkin, baggie of oat, spelt flakes and wheat chex, and butter crunch cashew crumbles and Justin’s PB. I used a little more than 1/2 the packet.

Snack plate, plus cereal and more PB and almonds. I need to just have a much bigger lunch, a big afternoon snack and a light dinner. That’s what has been happening anyway I should just plan it that way so I can get more veggies in.

For dinner I made a simple hummus wrap with cuc, spinach and dijon plus baby carrots and pineapple.

A pickle jumped in because I found them when I put the hummus away… mmm salty =).

I’m going to a presentation tonight called “I heart female orgasm”, I’ll let you know how it is!

What’s your opinion on scales? I’ve weighed myself once since I’ve been in recovery, I will not again and I’m not looking back!

Fun Friday night plans?
